Justin and Cecile

I had the privilege of not only working with both Cecile and Justin but also becoming their friend as well.

I met Cecile in my first job, in SGV, she was my boss then and I was her only staff. I got to work with Justin in Globe Telecom, but I’ve already met him when he was also in SGV. He used to be this quiet skinny guy hanging out by Cecile’s cubicle. They were already friends back then. Just friends. And they were ‘just friends’ for a long time… until I finally got bored with it. You see, my all-time favorite love story is about best friends realizing they have hots for each other, I mean, falling in love, so I got excited with the thought of one unfolding before my very eyes. I mean, they do all the things romantic couples do! Well, maybe not ALL , but most of it – they make time to see each other regularly, they hang out together, they run errands together, they run errands for each other, they watch movies together, they hold hands while watching movies together… So I’d bug Cecile and keep on asking what’s the deal between the two of them. And she’ll say, "No,we’re just friends!" So I told Cecile, ok, if you guys are ’just friends’, then I can set you up with a date, right?

But when she told Justin about it, Justin just said, “ayaw”. As it turns out, Justin was a bad friend. And he wants to keep Cecile all for himself.

So everyone, let’s all raise our glasses for Justin and Cecile – for ruining a good friendship by falling in love, for making my all-time favorite love story come true, that they may continue to experience the happiness and contentment that they had as 'friends' for all their years together.
