I have all sorts of Starbucks rituals with friends and family. One of my favorites was with my sister, about twice a week (when we're not running late), we'd pass by the one along Ortigas Ave before going to work to get drinks and sometimes, breakfast. It came about when I mentioned to her how I'd daydream of working overseas, independently living in city where I'd only walk to work and be able to pass by Starbucks to pick up a coffee. Just like how they do in the movies.
Our usual conversation would go something like:
Me: Uy, gusto mo mag-Starbucks? Inaantok ako e...
Her: Sige!
Me: Libre mo naman ako!
Her: Wala akong pera! Saka nilibre na kita the last time no! Ikaw dapat manglibre.
Me: Ah ganun ba? Heeheehee. Sige na nga...
another version would be:
Her: Daan tayo Starbucks?
Me: Libre mo ako...
Her: Sige!
but sometimes it would be like:
Me: Starbucks tayo!
Her: Libre mo ako?
Me: Sige!
Her: Mag-t-tea lang ako... sana may Zen Iced Tea...
(then I'd forget to switch lanes and before we know it, we passed by the break where I needed to turn right for Starbucks)
Me: Ay. Lumampas... hehehehehe.
Nowadays I am working overseas, living near the city and would walk past Starbucks to get to work. But I don't really stop to get coffee. Starbucks is more expensive here for me to create a new morning ritual. And without company, I guess its just not the same.
