Text Capital No More?

Telecomasia.net reports that Singaporeans, and not Pinoys are the world's SMS champions, since on the average, Juan dela Cruz sends about only 196 messages a month, as compared to an average of 200 messages for a Singaporean.

Gosh. Are we losing out to other countries even on texting?

I might just be stubborn but I find the results hard to believe. An average of 196 messages in a month translates to about 7 messages in day. Only 7 messages?!? Since the report is based on a survey, actual network data might prove higher sms usage which would be a more accurate basis.

I find it hard to let go of our claim to fame in the world of mobile services. Guess I am stubborn.

I wonder if predictive text output accepts singlish.

Mahirap na ang buhay sa Pilipinas, mahal na ang bilihin. Kaya siguro nauso ang share at pasa load dahil maraming nang di makabili ng cell card.

Hmmm, true. Since such services makes credits available in smaller amounts and the burden of paying the amount corresponding to the credits is/can be transferred.

Although keep in mind that Share-a-load and Pasa load are services offered by telecom companies for its subscribers to have a more convenient way of loading up credits into their prepaid account. Its just like buying a cell card but without the physical card -- at the end of the day, you still pay for the load you "share" or get thru "sharing".

Gee, I sound such a nerd.
