Sunday Blues

Today is Sunday.

Sunday is family day for us. It means:

1. Getting up around 9am to hear mass.

It doesn't matter how late you got in the night before. My mom would go to each of our rooms, wakes up each one of us, and threatens us with no breakfast if we don't get up.

2. Have lunch out

If my dad is to choose, he'd go for something Filipino or Chinese (he loves house teas). If mom gets to choose, its probably Spanish, or Japanese or Italian. If its the twins, its any place with chicken. And if its my brother's turn to choose, its probably pizza.

3.Then either just stroll around the mall, do some shopping, or catch a flick.

Except for my dad -- he usually sleeps through the entire movie. And mom would sometimes prefer to wait by starbucks with a romance paperback she brings along.

4. Then off to Cherry for some grocery shopping.

And whenever we get to the peanut butter aisle, my sister would grab a SKIPPY, shake it in front of her face while screaming, "Waaaah!" In tribute to her favorite scene from the movie Stepmom.

5. Then a noisy dinner at home.

If there's an occasion, it means steak dinner. My mom would prepare the meat, my sister would whipped up the mash potato and I'd open a can of whole kernel corn.

Its been a while though, since we had our last Sunday family day.

I miss my family.
